International Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive and Esthetic Surgery “Global Parthnership” Meeting in Yerevan, 2009
During presentation On October 8-10, 2009 Yerevan hosted the International Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive and Esthetic Surgery “Global Parthnership”. Previously the events of similar format used to be held in Tbilisi but this time the organizers of the Congress - Georgian, Armenian and Russian Plastic Surgery Associations decided to hold the Congress in the Republic of Armenia, on the neutral territory, because of the tension following the Russian-Georgian war. It must be noted that the hosts of the Congress headed by their President Armen Hovhannisyan carried out enormous preparatory work and the event was held at the highest level. Among the invitees to the Congress were world coryphaei of plastic surgery, such as Julia Terzis, Volfgang Gubisch, Pierre Fournier, Aleksey Borovikov, Ruben Oddenino. They delivered extremely interesting lectures on the topical issues of reconstructive and plastic surgery. The Georgian delegation was quite representative at the Congress: I. Kuzanov, E. Kuzanov, A. Kuzanov, G. Ioseliani from “ESTA-Kuzanov Clinic”; M. Sulamanidze, K.Sulamanidze and A. Sulamanidze from “Total Sharm” Clinic; A. Tsilosani, G. Nadibaidze and A. Avdoian from TALIZI Clinic.
Ziya Sailan and Akaki Tsilosani Georgian plastic surgeons presented the following reports: augmentative mamo-plastic surgery: review of clinical cases, peculiarities of secondary rhinoplasty in the Caucasus region, problem of “round” eye after blepharoplasty etc. The report by Akaki Tsilosani was especially interesting: The peculiarities of hair grafting in the scars of different origin. It was followed by long discussion in the wide audience. participation of famous Turkish plastic surgeon Ziya Saylan in the congress held in Yerevan was a significant fact. His grandfather was an officer in the Georgian army and fought against Russian occupants. After the victory of Bolsheviks he was forced to immigrate to Turkey. Ziya Saylan is a progressive minded, noble person. He is among those few plastic surgeons who openly publish information on the internet of his work experience, inventions and achievements and is always ready to conduct demonstrative operation for free and share his work experience with the new generation. His report dealt with the use of thrombocyte rich plasma and stem cells in plastic surgery. He promised the President of Georgian Plastic Surgery Association Professor I. Kuzanov to visit Georgia and conduct few surgeries. Ziya Saylan is the first Turkish doctor to make his way through the ice curtain between Turkey and Armenia and visited Yerevan. It is also an interesting fact that the Congress in Yerevan coincided with the signing of the agreement on renewed relations between Armenia and Turkey. Ziya Saylan’s words “doctor means teacher” became the epigram of the Congress. |
